Educational Programme UGM 2025/26
for high schools
The Maribor Art Gallery is the second largest institution in Slovenia dedicated to 20th and 21st century art. Each year, we host around 20 exhibitions of Slovenian artists and numerous international presentations. The exhibition programme is accompanied by a varied educational programme, which helps visitors to get to know, understand and experience fine art. For school groups, we organise short creative guided tours and more extensive cultural days based on the participant’s own experience of art making. The gallery space is regularly enlivened by our young subscribers, who actively follow the exhibition programme and co-create the lively art scene at UGM.
The 2025-2026 school year will start with an exhibition of works from the UGM Collection, titled Spekter. In December, we will invite you to an exhibition in our central exhibition space with the meaningful title I won't come down. And every month you will be able to see a new exhibition in the UGM Kabinet. You can find out more about the exhibitions here.

UGM FOR ART STUDENTS
With your support, we aim to bring UGM—the central institution for modern and contemporary visual art in Maribor—closer to students of art disciplines. We want to present UGM as a space of vibrant, authentic art, as well as a place for enriching academic content, spending free time, and socializing. To this end, we are preparing special benefits for students, either for independent visits or as part of their studies, and we kindly ask you to inform them about these opportunities. We would also like to highlight the possibility of conducting part of your academic activities directly in the exhibition spaces, surrounded by original artworks.
Conducting academic activities in UGM spaces
At UGM, you can carry out part of your academic program (e.g. drawing or painting from original works, lectures, etc.). The exhibitions can serve as a practical demonstration of the topics you cover in your courses. Give students the opportunity to create in an environment of living art. We can support you with available equipment such as drawing boards, a projector + computer + screen, monitors, and more.
